STATE OF THE UNION

The State of the Union speech marks the end of the first year in office for the president….  I am a little embarrased to admit  this has been the first time I’ve watched the event. Why I haven’t? I don’t have a good answer there.

In part, was my growing mistrust for big government. Watching as year after year the politicians spoke one thing  and did another. Sensing that the common man was not being heard. Therefore not being represented. Leaving the helpless feeling that my one vote , my one voice could do nothing. I find it hard pressed to believe  I’m the only one feeling this way.

Why now, the change of heart? It is a change. Not so, the heart,I still sport a strong mistrust, but more of a change in attitude. I can no longer ignore it . That doesn’t make it go away Neither does denial. Ignorance is not bliss. No, ignorance is dangerous. We would all do good to become informed. Importantly, not from just one information source. Investigate the whole gamut of information.

  1. Hi Nick:)Initially, when Obama was elected there was a great celebration and the whole world thought he will do wonders. But the American economy has not recovered yet. Speeches are good and I am an admirer of Obalma's speeces. But speeches alone will not produce results. Speeches are made to buy time,to cover up failures, to bridge delay in execution of policies and to gloss over mistakes. Only time will tell.I am in the habit of listening to the speeches of all political parties and I find most of the time they blame each other to curry favour with the voters.Your post is very interesting to read. Some how I find you are trying to take a neutral stand without any political affiliations.Have a nice day Nick:)Joseph
