Had to get out….

Had to get out of the house, away from the TV, and the debt ceiling experience. I say this as it is my first experience with government in action, or not in action, or disfunction action. At any rate, i had to get away for a while. If I can share one concensus. I am very surprised that anything gets done the way they do business. All  the chatter and ritual it seems more like a circus than government business.

It appears that after two or three weeks they are finally moving forward. Clearly, not nearly enough done, but something on the table. If it stops here we would have gone nowhere. As I see it is the beginning of dialog with the real work yet to come. After all it has taken us decades to get to where we are today. It must be a seriously action forward movement.

I don’t claim to have all the answers. Maybe some suggestions.  I don’t see it happening without a balance between revenue and cuts. It is clear to me if EVERYONE would pay their percentage of tax this would free up a whole hell of a lot of money. Money that could go back into social security and medicare. After all these are not benefits. This is money we have all been putting into a sort of trust for retirement, RIGHT???????

I could go on and on. Money for education, vets, soldiers, health care, research, etc…. Yes, it is overwhelming. BUT it needs to be addressed NOW rather than LATER.

  1. Hi Nick,You are right. But the problem remains that every body will not pay their taxes and find ways and means to evade tax. This is a universal problem and in India the corruption levels are very high and millions of rupees have been stashed in Swiss banks. If that money was available so much good can be done for the development of the country and for the poor people. But as things stand there is sure way to stop corruption inspite of all the laws and law enforcement agencies.Best wishes,Joseph
