Looking at our reflection, AMERICA , what do we see? Do we see unity, humanity, compassion, lending a helping hand where we can? Do we see the united states of America?
Can we be honest with ourselves? Can we be real? Or do we turn our heads refusing to see? Or even worse deny the truth and embrace the lie……
I have to be straight up here. What I mean as honest as I can possibly be. This is not a time for being coy, playing games, or worst of all just running away. There is no place to run , No place to hide. It’s time.
It’s time to take a good look at the reflection in the pool.Look deeper and now what do you see? The thing is we really don’t have to look too deeply. It is not that hard to see . We don’t even cover it up for appearance sake. It is not one person or a group of people, large or small. It is WE the People that is America.Period…
I see more people living on the street. No home, no job, and hungry. I see our towns, cities, roads, and highways, as well as our means of transportation eroding, in need of repair. I see our political parties tampering with people’s votes. It seems that the party leaders have already decided who their candidate is. And they will stop at nothing to achieve their end. Even if it takes our voting power. They claim to be looking out for the best in our behalf. Come on let’s cut the crap. You know as well as I do IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY and furthering their agenda.
And we the people are expected to fall in line catering to the dictates of a handful of wealthy and powerful. I really don’t see that working out in the long run. We lay claims to be a democracy. Democracy according to Wikipedia is : Democracy, or democratic government, is “a system of government in which all the people of astate or polity … are involved in making decisions about its affairs, typically by voting to elect representatives to a parliament or similar assembly”, as defined by the Oxford English Dictionary. Democracy is further defined as (a:) “government by the people; especially : rule of the majority (b:) “a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections.”
Is this what you see? Without WE THE PEOPLE there is no democracy. Not just a select few, but all of us. Large and small. All the colors . All the races. All the religions.
I ask you What does it take to be American? Your religion? Your color? No, think again. There are two qualifications , one is to be born here and two immigrate here. Going through the process to citizenship. Now listen to me very closely here. Unless your birth right is Native American one of your ancestors has gone through the immigration process. So before we start thinking about putting bans on people or removing everyone that isn’t true American think again. The only one that would be left would be Native Americans.
In closing I would like to leave you with this thought. WE look out at the world through our self righteous eyes as we are the perfect example. Free of fault. We condemn those stealing land from others, or others steeped in civil war, killing their own, or the terrorist hate groups going about killing others that don’t believe as they do. Well I say we need to take another look at our reflection in the pool. Look deeper into our checkered past. We have been all those things.
When the first settlers came to America there were people living here.So what did they do? They pushed their way in . Stealing the locals land and killing them by the thousands. And as an added bonus they brought slavery with them. As time passed the new America became divided in ideology. Civil war became imitate. The north and the south went to war with each other. Killing it’s own kind. And let us not forget at the outset of the civil war a group came into being. We know them as the KKK. The Klu Klux Klan by definition a terrorist hate group. Targeting blacks, Jews, Catholics , and immigrants. Claiming white supremacy and christian mores . And they weren’t beyond killing those that didn’t agree. Sound familiar? Well it should.nick
